Cremation Ground

彰化縣 生命園區火化場

Translating the spatial order of traditional Chinese temples into a contemporary ritual space, this place serves as both a farewell ceremony and a final, tranquil resting place for the departed.

The site employs a differentiated flow design to minimize interference between vehicles, hearses, and pedestrians, ensuring a more composed, respectful, and understanding arrival. The entrance, designed with a series of steps, serves as a ritualistic transition from the external environment to the quiet space. Through the overall materials and functionality, the psychological pressure of the farewell process is transformed.

The exterior corridors, through the convergence of angles and materials, create shelter and a buffer between the interior and exterior, adding solemnity and protection. The central pool, visible from the main hall, is illuminated by large floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing the light to penetrate and bring power. The atrium uses mirrored marble to create a water-like reflection, while the presence of stones and trees leaves a sense of emptiness for the farewell.

The architecture, with its simplicity, clear circulation, and low-intrusion strategy, gathers away complex emotions. Utilizing the elements of wind, fire, water, and earth, it ultimately returns to the order of nature.
